Apple appoints Sabih Khan new senior VP of operations

New York: Apple has appointed Sabih Khan as its new senior VP of operations to look after supply chain and manufacturing.  Khan has been working with Apple since the 1990s and has been behind all of Apple's greatest product launches over the last two decades.

Sabih Khan, who has worked with Apple for the last 24 years, will be responsible for looking after "Apple's global supply chain, ensuring product quality and overseeing planning, procurement, manufacturing, logistics and product fulfillment functions, as well as Apple's supplier responsibility programs that protect and educate workers at production facilities around the world."

Therefore, Khan will look after the manufacturing and distribution of all Apple products across the world. This comes at a time when Apple is considering India as its next manufacturing hub for its popular iPhone models. Apple has begun manufacturing the older iPhone models in India and has a plan to further expand its manufacturing of the new models to Foxconn's facility in India.

"Sabih leads our Ops team with heart," said Tim Cook, Apple's CEO. "He and his entire worldwide team are committed to delivering unmatched experiences to our customers, treating workers everywhere with dignity and respect, and protecting the environment for future generations."

Sabih Khan hails from Moradabad in Uttar Pradesh, India and was born in 1966. He studied up to the fifth grade in India before his family shifted to Singapore from where he completed his rest of schooling. He later completed his mechanical engineering from the US. Khan has been with Apple since 1995. Sabih Khan is fond of Hindi songs and one of his relatives says he loves Parle-G biscuits, as reported by Aaj Tak.
