Ganesh Visarjan begins amid fanfare, Tolani family bids adieu to Ganpati Bappa(God of Big Things) MALIBU BEACH

Malibu, CALIF: The spectacular festival honoring the birth of the beloved Hindu elephant-headed god, Lord Ganesha, popularly worshiped for his ability to remove obstacles and bring good fortunes, fulfilling devotees wishes came to an end on Sept 5th .The 'visarjan' (immersion) processions of Ganesha idols, culminating the 11-day long 'Ganesh Chaturthi' festival, began Worldwide on Aug 25 as chants of "Ganpati bappa morya, pudcha varshi laukar ya" filled the air (Lord, come back quickly next year).

Ganesh festival (also known as Vinayak Chaturthi) is one of the most important HINDU festivals. People bring home statues of Ganapati , install and worship the god for 10 days (or less). On the final day of Anant Chaturdashi, the idols are taken to a water body and immersed. This act of immersion is called ‘visarjan’ or ‘nimajjanam’. Along with live chanting and playing Ganesh specific songs, people also chant several Ganpati Visarjan slogan as they accompany Lord Ganesha towards the immersion site. It is believed that Ganeshji returns back to Mount Kailas and meet Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati after the Visarjan. A final puja and arati is done before the immersion and millions of enthusiastic people say goodbye to the god with all their energy.

Neelam Tolani posted on facebook “The festival of Ganesh Chaturthi has crossed all boundaries of religion and caste. It’s a blessed opportunity to us, we visited Shri Siddhivinayak Temple, Brea CA  and participated in the Ganesh Aarti, praying together with community people, inspiring the young generation and seeking the blessings of elders.”

The Tolani family also prayed for relief from Hurricane Harvey in Texas and Louisiana and Hurricane Irma in Florida. CEO Tolani said “ When I think about how thousands of Team Members are helping out the community affected by Hurricane Harvey through rescue and recovery, My family is overcome with gratitude and pride. Our parents teachings of generosity permeates Prince organization, and it is never more evident than in times like these – when severe natural disasters threaten Humanity. Our belief in the spiritual prayers is amazing, a MIRACLE may happen.”
