Hundreds take part in 6th Annual Vaisakhi 5K Run

New York: The 6th Annual Vaisakhi 5k Run held on April 28th at Victory Field in Queens attracted 500 runners.  The event was dedicated to the 550th anniversary of Guru Nanak. 

The winner in the men’s category was Avnoor Singh Deol and in the female category, it was Navjot Kaur. A cash prize of $500 was given to each winner along with a trophy. There were other prizes as well and all registered runners received T-shirts, bags, and medals for their participation. Everybody enjoyed food and entertainment after the race.

NYC Councilman Barry Grodenchik, Assemblyman David Weprin and Jennifer Rajkumar from Governor Cuomo’s office appreciated the efforts made by the organizers of the race.

The founders of the Vaisakhi 5k Run are Dr. Avtar Singh Tinna and Satnam Singh Parhar along with Gurbhinder Singh Brar, Sarbjit Singh Dhami, Manvir Singh Jaswal and Harjinder Kaur Jammu.
