Kid reads 1,000 books before KG

Westbury, NY: The Westbury Children's Library congratulated 5-year old Avana Grace Sharma (and her family) for reading 1,000 books before kindergarten. Under the encouragement of Ms Emily Farrell, head of the Children's Library, Avana Grace was able to complete the program this past summer.

"It was fun" was Avana’s reaction after being awarded the certificate as well as a bag full of gifts for her accomplishment. She is currently attending kindergarten at the Spanish All Year preschool in the Village of Westbury.

"We absolutely love the Westbury Children's Library, the staff and the fish tank," said her mother Geeta Citygirl-Chopra.
The 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten challenge is a wonderful way for families to introduce their young babies to the joy of books and reading. For every 100 books read on the way to the goal of 1,000, children may choose a gift or book.
