The American Heart Association is leading a special initiative to help the South Asian Community raise awareness on preventative medicine and habits to combat heart disease, which is the leading killer of our community. As part of this program, AHA is donating Automated external defibrillators (AEDs are used to revive someone from sudden cardiac arrest) to religious facilities of South Asian descent to strengthen their knowledge of AED/CPR through certifications. On March 23rd, AHA held a CPR Skills Test at Asa Mai Hindu Temple in Hicksville. The founding members of the South Asian Project are Dr. Rajiv Jauhar, Vijay Alreja, Jaspreet Mayall, Esq., and Gurpreet (Sonny) Singh.
