3 Indian shows to watch on Netflix this month

With an increased viewership of OTT platforms, there are two new Indian web series and a new Bollywood movie that will arrive on Netflix this month.

  1. Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl

Janhvi Kapoor’s much-awaited patriotic flick will have its world premiere and join the roster of movies on Netflix close to Independence Day. Produced by Dharma Productions, it tells the story of real IAF pilot, Gunjan Saxena, the first Indian female airforce pilot in combat. It features Janhvi Kapoor in the lead, with Pankaj Tripathi, Angad Bedi and Manav Vij in main roles.

  1. Class of ’83

Class of ’83 is another Indian web series that will have its world premiere in August 2020. Produced by Shah Rukh Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment and directed by Atul Sabharwal, Class of ‘83 stars Bobby Deol in the lead role of Dean Vijay Singh, a cop-turned-educator whose students grapple with the complexities of being in the force and devotion to the nation. Notably, the film is based on the book The Class of 83 by Sayyed Yunus Hussain Zaidi.

  1. Masaba Masaba

Masaba Masaba is a scripted series based on real-life moments from Masaba Gupta’s life, her unique background, the diverse worlds she straddles across fashion and family, and her foray back into the dating world. It will also feature frequent appearances by her mother Neena Gupta, who you may remember from Panchayat and Shubh Mangal Zyaada Savdhaan.

 

When Satish Kaushik arrived in Mumbai 41 years ago

Veteran actor-filmmaker Satish Kaushik still remembers the day he came to the city to earn a name for himself as an actor.

Taking to Instagram, Kaushik went down memory lane and recalled his first morning in the city of dreams 41 years ago.

” I came to mumbai to become an actor on 9th Aug 1979 by Paschim Express. . 10th Aug was the first morning in Mumbai.Mumbai gave work,friends,wife, kids,home, love, warmth, struggle, success, failures and courage to live happily,” he wrote.

Along with it, Kaushik shared a throwback image of him standing next to the train, seemingly the moment he arrived in Mumbai.

“Good Morning Mumbai and all who gave me more than I dreamt in this 41 years of a fulfilling journey . . thanks,” Kaushik added.

Kaushik has been tickling the funny bone of audiences for so many years. He is best known for his roles in “Saajan Chale Sasural”, “Pardesi Babu” and “Mr. India”.
