New Delhi: The Indian Embassy in Beirut has advised Indian nationals to avoid all non-essential travel to the country amid a spike in tensions in the Middle East due to the killing of leaders of Hamas and Hezbollah. This was the second advisory issued by the embassy in Beirut since July 29.
"In view of the recent escalations in the region, Indian nationals are advised to avoid all non-essential travel to Lebanon. All Indian nationals in Lebanon are advised to exercise caution, restrict their movements and remain in contact with the Embassy of India in Beirut through their email id: [email protected] or the emergency phone number +96176860128," the tweet said.
There are nearly 4,000 Indian nationals in Lebanon and most of them are employed as workers in companies, the construction sector, and agricultural farms. Apart from India, several countries, including the US, Australia and Canada have issued advisories for its citizens, telling them to leave Lebanon at the earliest.
Earlier on July 29, the Indian Embassy in Lebanon asked Indian nationals in the country to "exercise caution" and remain in contact with the embassy amid growing tensions between Israel and Hezbollah.
