New Delhi: In the wake of the recent unrest in Bangladesh, Chief of Defence Staff of the Indian Armed Forces, General Anil Chauhan, said that the instability in the country's neighborhood is a cause of concern. "The prolonged border dispute with China is yet to abate," he said while speaking at a conference on Military Ammunition in Delhi.
"India has its own share of security challenges, we have a proxy war raged by Pakistan in Jammu and Kashmir, a sudden escalation of which is now being seen in Pir Panjal Range," General Chauhan added.
He further said: "There are two major security challenges that we are facing, the instability in our neighborhood is another cause of concern for us. For a large nation like India, with plentitudes of security problems, it cannot remain dependent on foreign imports of war fighting and sustenance, especially in an environment where global security and government are in a state of flux".
