The joint operation will feature a range of advanced military tactics and coordinated manoeuvres aimed at improving the readiness of both armies in high-stakes scenarios.
New Delhi: India and the United States are set to conduct their largest-ever joint military exercise at the Mahajan Field Firing Range in Rajasthan from September 9 to 24. This historic event will see the participation of 600 soldiers from each country, marking a new milestone in the defense partnership between the two nations.
This exercise marks the 20th edition of the India-US joint military exercise, known as Yudh Abhyas. Previous editions were held in diverse environments, with the 2023 exercise taking place in Alaska, USA, and the 2022 edition conducted in Auli, Uttarakhand. The Mahajan exercise is set to be particularly special due to the unprecedented number of troops involved, reflecting the growing scale and ambition of this long-standing military collaboration.
One of the highlights of the exercise will be the deployment of the US military’s High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS). These advanced rocket systems, which have gained prominence for their use in Ukraine, can deliver precision strikes over extended ranges. The inclusion of HIMARS in the exercise underscores the emphasis on integrating cutting-edge technology into joint military operations. India will also showcase its new generation of weapon systems and platforms during the exercise. (India Today inputs)
