New York: On August 11, 2024, the NYPD Desi Society and the NYC Department of Correction Desi Society held their Annual Family Day picnic and barbecue for all members, friends, and families at Cunningham Park.  The goal of the picnic was to build collaboration between the two agencies and foster camaraderie within the South Asian Desi community and for everyone to have a good time and enjoy.

The family fun day included activities such as an exotic car show, face painting, live music, hookah station, cotton candy, rock climbing wall, game truck, motorcycle display, unlimited halal foods, photo identification card station for kids to get their IDs made, recruitment booth & of course a bouncy house.  Everyone had a blast, and the exotic car show was the icing on the cake.

NYPD Desi Society President, Neil Narayan said, "This picnic brought over 300 people together and we will continue to keep this partnership going."

President Chopra of NYCD Desi Society echoed the same sentiment and thanked all who supported the event including NYPD & NYCD leadership.

Dr. Mariam Singh said, "it was good to see the desi law enforcement community and the children just relaxing and having a wonderful time in a stress-free environment away from the work front."

Department leadership from both agencies including Deputy Commissioner White, Assistant Commissioner Morgan, Chief of Queens South, Inspector Gorman from NYPD, and Deputy Commissioner Goel, Deputy Commissioner Srinivasan, Assistant Commissioner Davis from Department of Correction supported the family fun day it its entirety.

Additionally, few members of the community, NYC Mayor's Office & NYPD Desi Society were honored by NYCD Desi Society for their endless hard work in bringing this family fun day to a huge success.
