Washington, DC: Deputy National Finance Chair, Democratic National Committee, Harris for President Finance Committee and AAPI Community Leader, Ajay Bhutoria released the following statement on US increasing new visa appointments in India to 250,000. The move comes as per his one of the recommendations submitted earlier on the White House AANHPI Commission.
“I am grateful to the U.S. Embassy in India, particularly Ambassador Eric Garcetti, for their dedicated efforts in addressing visa appointment wait times. The recent opening of 250,000 additional appointments is a significant step forward in supporting Indian travelers, including families and students, seeking to visit the U.S. While this achievement reflects the positive impact of my recommendations to the White House AANHPI Commission, we must recognize that more work remains,” he said.
As a commissioner on the White House AANHPI Commission, Bhutoria submitted key recommendations aimed at reducing visa appointment wait times and green card backlog reduction. These included not only increasing the number of visa appointments but also exploring innovative solutions such as video appointments. Bhutoria further said I believe these steps will further enhance accessibility and efficiency in the visa process. I am committed to further advocating for improvements to ensure that the visa process becomes more efficient for everyone. Together, we can continue to build stronger ties between our nations.
