New York: In his first interview to Fox News after being named as Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump’s running mate, JD Vance branded China the “biggest threat” to the United States. When asked about the war in Ukraine, Vance said Trump would negotiate with Moscow and Kyiv to “bring this thing to a rapid close so America can focus on the real issue, which is China”.

“That’s the biggest threat to our country and we are completely distracted from it,” the Ohio Senator said. Previously, he called for “broad-based tariffs” on Chinese goods and advocated for bringing American manufacturing back home to reduce dependency on Beijing.

Calling India and Japan “two most important allies” of the US, Vance said in a post on X in May: “Biden insults our two most important allies in countering China all because they don’t believe in open borders. This guy’s foreign policy is an absolute clown show.”
