Microsoft co-founder and billionaire philanthropist Bill Gates flagged off the first India Day celebrations in Greater Seattle area as Guest of Honor of the Consulate General of India. Gates, addressing over 2,000 members of the Indian-American community at the celebration, referred to India “as a global leader with breakthrough innovations in areas like technology, agriculture and healthcare”.
Consul General Dr.K.Srikar Reddy was the Chief Guest at the 32nd West Coast Festival of Globe [FOG] India Day Parade in Fremont, California celebrating India's 78th Independence Day. Bollywood actress Manisha Koirala graced the event as a Grand Marshal and Bay Area elected officials attended and supported the event. About 80 floats showcased the rich and diverse cultures of India, from Kashmir to Kerala, with more than 10,000 participants coming together to celebrate.
