Donald Trump's new book claims Mark Zuckerberg conspired against him in the 2020 US presidential election.
New York: Former US President Donald Trump has written in his soon-to-be-published book that Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg plotted against him during the 2020 US presidential elections. In the book, “Save America,” Trump claimed that the Meta chief executive would “spend the rest of his life in prison” if he did it again.
The comments from Trump come at a time when Meta has assured that it will not influence this year’s campaign. While slamming Zuckerberg, Trump referred to the $420 million contribution he and his wife, Priscilla Chan, made during the 2020 election to fund election infrastructure. “He told me there was nobody like Trump on Facebook. But at the same time, and for whatever reason, steered it against me,” the Republican presidential candidate said.
“We are watching him closely, and if he does anything illegal this time he will spend the rest of his life in prison — as will others who cheat in the 2024 Presidential Election,” Trump warned, according to the excerpt obtained by Politico.
The book, which is set to be published on September 3, featured a picture of Trump with the Facebook founder in the White House. Under the picture, the former President wrote that Zuckerberg “would come to the Oval Office to see me. He would bring his very nice wife to dinners, be as nice as anyone could be, while always plotting to install shameful Lock Boxes in a true PLOT AGAINST THE PRESIDENT”.
In the past, Republicans have slammed Meta for suppressing content that would have negatively affected President Joe Biden’s campaign during the 2020 presidential race.
