>> A late night strike on October 22 killed 18 people near a Beirut hospital, bringing the overall toll in Lebanon since September 23 to at least 1,552, according to an AFP tally of health ministry figures.

>> Israel claims Hezbollah has stashed $500 million in a 'secret bunker' beneath a Beirut hospital. It said the bunker - discovered after a series of airstrikes hit the area - serves as a financial hub for the militant group.

>> Iran-backed Hezbollah said that it was responsible for the drone attack that targeted Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's residence during the weekend. The PM and his wife were not home at the time of the attack, and there were no casualties.

>> Hamas sources said the Palestinian militant group was moving towards appointing a Doha-based ruling committee rather than a single successor to its chief Yahya Sinwar, who was killed by Israeli troops last week.

>> Just weeks ahead of the US Presidential elections, Secretary of State Antony Blinken met PM Netanyahu on October 22 and tried to revive ceasefire talks amid escalating violence in Gaza and Lebanon.

>> Israeli and US officials have begun implementing a $5.2 billion emergency aid package to bolster Israel’s air defense system. The package is part of an $8.7 billion aid Israel said in late September it had secured from the US, in which $3.5 billion has already been transferred to Israel for “urgent wartime procurement”.
