American Telugu Association condoles death of S P Balasubrahmanyam

The American Telugu Association (ATA) expressed its condolences to the family and admirers of legendary singer S P Balasubrahmanyam who passed away on September 25, 2020 at a Chennai hospital due to Covid19 related illness/complications. 

His melodies and versatile voice helped him get close to people’s heart so much so that they consider him one among their family members. For the last 50 years, he had sung more than 40,000 songs in 16 different languages.

 He was recipient of Padma Bhushan, one of the prestigious awards from Government of India and many others from various states for his singing talent.

“His presence at several ATA conferences was a very memorable one. In addition to giving live performances during a few ATA conferences SPB conducted the first US Padutha Theeyaga competitions to coincide with the ATA 2000 conference. His loss was very huge for Telugu and other music lovers. We pray to God to bless his soul with eternal salvation and give strength to his family during this difficult time,” ATA said in a press release.
