BJANA hosts spectacular annual Diwali celebration

Bihar Jharkhand Association of North America (BJANA) held its spectacular annual Diwali celebration on Nov 5, 2023, in the ballroom of the Royal Albert Palace, NJ. The event was attended by more than 600 community members from New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, and Delaware.  The event was fun and filled with cultural programs, including dance, live band, and singing by the children from the community and adults, exhibitions by sponsors, essential messages by the chief and honored guests, delicious Indian cuisine, and a dance floor. This vibrant extravaganza featured an array of activities that showcased the rich cultural diversity of Bihar and Jharkhand.  

Attendees were also treated to engaging exhibitions by generous sponsors, heartfelt messages from distinguished guests, delectable Indian cuisine, and an energetic dance floor that kept everyone on their feet throughout the night. 

Among the esteemed guests, Mayor Charlie Carley of South Brunswick township in New Jersey graced the event as the Chief Guest, extending his warm wishes for a Happy Diwali to all. Furthermore, the Governor of Jharkhand C. P. Radhakrishnan, the Chief Minister of Jharkhand Hemant Soren, and the Chief Minister of Bihar Nitish Kumar conveyed their heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to the entire Bihar and Jharkhand community in the United States. 

Anurag Kumar, the President of BJANA, took the stage to address the attendees. He emphasized BJANA’s ongoing fundraising efforts and charitable activities in the USA, Bihar, and Jharkhand, expressing gratitude to the community members for their active participation and unwavering support for BJANA’s philanthropic endeavors. Alok Kumar, the past president of the Federation of Indian Associations (FIA), called on all community members to join in bidding farewell to Consul General New York, Randhir Jaiswal, on November 20th, and express their gratitude for his services to the Indian community. 

Bihar Jharkhand Association of North America (BJANA) honored outstanding individuals during their Diwali celebration in 2023. Dr. Anil Kumar received a Lifetime Achievement Award for his unwavering service to BJANA. Dr. Rupam Saran was awarded for her remarkable achievements and community service. Abhinav Atul from Bihar, India, was recognized for his outstanding contributions to the people of Bihar and Jharkhand.
