On Nov 18, 2023, Chhaya CDC successfully held its first-ever Housing Fair in Richmond Hill. Traditionally, Chhaya’s Annual Housing Fair has been previously only hosted in Jackson Heights, and this expansion into Southeast Queens marks Chhaya’s commitment to reaching and assisting South Asian and Indo-Caribbean residents throughout New York City. Hosted at Richmond Hill High School, Chhaya staff, alongside housing agencies, banks, and housing industry experts, provided critical resources for first-time homebuyers, current homeowners, and tenants navigating the complexities of housing stability and financial planning.
Amidst New York City’s affordable housing crisis and rising rents, Chhaya continues to reach even more community members who have been historically underserved, providing them with the help and information necessary for achieving stable housing.
