Claremont School of Theology marks Jain Day of Forgiveness

California: “The Jain Day of Forgiveness: Interreligious Perspectives on Compassion and Forgiveness” – a Claremont School of Theology (CST) event, was organized on September 11, 2021, under the aegis of the Center for Engaged Compassion at Claremont School of Theology.

As Jain community members worldwide celebrated Paryushan Parva, the most sacred Annual Jain festival, Claremont School of Theology commemorated The Jain Day of Forgiveness by taking the lead in bringing the Jain philosophy of forgiveness in interreligious dialogue. The event aimed at bringing the tradition of forgiveness in various faiths and cultures across the world on a single platform.

The event was a virtual webinar that began with Navkar Mantra by Mrs. Sushama Parekh, enlightening opening remarks by Claremont School of Theology’s President, Dr. Jeffrey Kuan, and blessings by Shree Mahesh Wadher, President, Federation of Jain Associations in North America (JAINA). The featured speakers, Professor Frank Rogers, Professor Yohana Junker, Professor Lailatul Fitriyah, and Atmarprit Vidhiji from Shrimad Rajchandra Mission Dharampur (SRMD) led the path towards the amalgamation of various perspectives on forgiveness and compassion. Shree Sulekh Jain, Dr. Nitin Shah, and Ms. Nimisha Asthagiri were among other panelists. Professor Venu Mehta coordinated the event.
