Columbia grad’s book makes applying for foreign education bit easier

New York: Debut author Soundarya Balasubramani’s book, ‘Admitted: The Missing Guide to Craft a Winning Application & Study Abroad’ is an all-encompassing book that covers the end-to-end process of getting an admit and preparing to study in a foreign country.

Though she began writing it out as a 10-page guide on studying abroad along the way she found total dearth of a comprehensive guide on this topic. Hence instead of writing a book that instructed the reader on exactly what to do, this master’s degree holder from Columbia University, New York adopted a different approach. Using graphic design, mental models from other domains, testimonials from past graduates, and her own stories she came up with ‘Admitted’ which in her words is not just about helping you get your dream admit. It’s also about preparing you for the next phase in your life.

a Gold Medal from NIT Trichy up her sleeve.

The book provides critical information on every part of the journey: crafting a resume, writing a statement of purpose, preparing for competitive exams (GRE, IELTS, TOEFL), picking the right university, preparing for interviews, applying for scholarships, and more. It also lays bare lesser-known information about student loans and visas, post getting an admit.

All profits from the sales will go towards helping the underprivileged get access to education.
