Community mourns passing away of Dr. Pushpa Shah

Manhasset, New York: Community members in New York are mourning the loss of Dr. Pushpa Shah, wife of Dr. Shashi Shah. She passed away on March 13 in Manhasset. Her last rites will be performed at Moloney’s Lake Funeral House and Cremation Center at Lake RonkonKoma, NY on Friday, March 17.

Dr. Shah was a proactive leader of the Indian-American community. She served as secretary and treasurer of the Association of Indians in America (AIA) and was instrumental in bringing the Diwali celebration to Times Square. She was also the founding member and past president of the Rajasthan Medical Alumni Association (RAJMAAI).

She played an active role in the community and volunteered for several organizations including Rajasthan Association of North America (RANA) and the American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (AAPI).

Dr. Shah was an artist at heart and was an avid painter. Her creativity reflected in every nook and corner of her house for the family and friends to see and appreciate as she could transform the mundane into art. She deeply cherished the moments spent with her grandchildren – Mohan and Suzain.

Community members across New York fondly recall that the doors of her home were always open, the food always warm, and the love and kinship never-ending. Dr. Pushpa Shah will be dearly missed by family and friends in the US and in India.
