De Blasio says NYC will honor COVID-19 heroes with ticker-tape parade

Mayor Bill de Blassio

The Big Apple will celebrate its “rebirth” after the coronavirus lockdown is lifted with the “greatest” ticker-tape parade ever — to celebrate the city’s health care workers and first responders, Mayor Bill de Blasio announced Tuesday.

“The day is coming where we will overcome this disease,” de Blasio said during a conference call with reporters. “When that day comes that we can restart the vibrant, beautiful life of this city, the first thing we will do is have a ticker-tape parade.”

“We will honor those who saved us.”

This parade, he continued, “will be the greatest of all the parades because this one will speak to the rebirth of New York City.”

“This parade will mark the beginning of our renaissance, but it’ll also be most importantly the chance to say thank you to so many good and noble people,” Hizzoner said, noting, “This one will speak to the kind of heroism that is intrinsic to who we are as New Yorkers.”

That day, de Blasio added, “will be a beautiful and joyous day in this city.” (Source: nypost.com)
