Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt has been dropped from 'Son of Sardaar 2' after the production team found that his visa request had been rejected in the UK in connection with the 1993 blasts case, according to a report in Mid-Day. Dutt has been replaced by actor Ravi Kishen, the news report added.
Dutt was arrested in 1993 and convicted later for violation of the Arms Act for possession of illegal weapons procured from the other accused in the 1993 bombings in Mumbai. In March 2013, the Supreme Court upheld his five-year sentence, and after multiple bails, he finally completed his jail term in 2016.
Dutt and Ajay Devgn were all set to reprise their roles in 'Son of Sardaar 2', which is a sequel to the 2012 movie that also had Sonakshi Sinha in the lead. The sequel, which also has Mrunal Thakur, was to be shot in Scotland.
A source told Mid-Day: “Ever since his arrest in 1993, while Sanju has traveled to the US, he has applied for a UK visa multiple times, but never got one. The 'Son of Sardaar 2' shoot would have been his first trip to the UK. However, after Ajay’s team found out that the senior actor’s visa request had been rejected, they replaced him with Ravi Kishen".
The source further said that this visa rejection could also hamper the shoot of 'Housefull 5' as the multi-starrer is also scheduled to be shot in September in London. But the source said that 'Housefull 5' producer Sajid Nadiadwala has already shot for Dutt's portion in Mumbai.
