Dear Friends, a very warm and heartiest congratulations on the 77th anniversary of India's independence that paves the way for ‘Viksit Bharat’.

On this occasion, let us remember that India is also celebrating the 75th anniversary of the Constitution. Remaining firm on the constitutional ideals of justice, equality, liberty, and fraternity, we are moving ahead with the mission to ensure that India regains its proud place on the world stage.

However, the world is facing tumultuous times. From the Russia-Ukraine war to the Israel-Hamas conflict, from tensions growing in the Middle East to political unrest in Bangladesh — along with a slowdown in major economies like the US that has sparked recession fears — humanity is facing a heightened sense of uncertainty.

In times of such upheavals, India stands firm to become the third-largest economy in the world, showcasing political stability in the PM Modi 3.0 era. The RBI has forecast 7.2% GDP growth for 2024-2025 as India's forex reserves have reached a historic high of $675 billion. India has now become one of the largest exporters of  Arms & Ammunition and is soon to be the industrial-production HQ of the world.

Here in the United States, as Vice President Kamala Harris leads over Donald Trump, not only nationally but also in battleground states as per polls, we are proud to present our annual Special Edition commemorating and celebrating Independence Day with ‘Viksit Bharat@2047’ as the core theme.

India@78 is a vibrant and strong democracy in the world, maintaining the values of her ancient philosophy, "Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam" - the world is one family. In the same spirit, the Indian diaspora across the globe is creating synergies for collaborations among the world economies, while helping the country create a necessary skilled pool for emerging technologies that will make it a powerful global leader.

Over the 16-plus years' presence of The South Asian Times, we also do our utmost to preserve and promote the patriotic emotions in each Indian soul settled far away from their home. This special edition is a testimonial to our continued sincere effort. Our family-oriented, unwavering vision has set high standards in the South Asian media fraternity of the US, both in print and online. We take great pride in being the most consistent in ethnic newsprint media and publishing a most read and admired weekly newspaper in the USA, for the South Asian communities and the mainstream as well.

Our newly-designed website, www.thesouthasiantimes.info, is updated 24x7. Please visit it for the latest news, vital for the Indian-American Diaspora.

Here, we are presenting yet another India Day Special Edition. Hope you will enjoy the result of the efforts put in by our editorial team. We humbly thank you, our advertisers, supporters, contributors, and readers, for being gracious partners in our significant, sustained success and growth.

We are looking forward to presenting another very special edition celebrating Diwali, the Festival of Lights, which falls on November 1. Please share your views and feedback at — [email protected]
