The Asian American Bar Association of New York (AABANY) congratulates Hon. Jeffrey K. Oing (Ret.) on joining JAMS, the largest private provider of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) services worldwide. Justice Oing, an active member of AABANY, joins JAMS after a distinguished career of over two decades on the New York bench, most recently serving as an associate justice on the Appellate Division, First Department, Supreme Court of the State of New York.
Justice Oing’s judicial career began in 2003 with his election to the New York County Civil Court, where he was appointed supervising judge in 2009 and designated as an acting Supreme Court judge. In 2010, he was elected to the Supreme Court and later assigned to the Commercial Division after a stint in the General Trial Part. In 2017, he was appointed to the Appellate Division, First Department, which handles appeals from lower courts in New York and Bronx counties.
Throughout his judicial career, Justice Oing oversaw a wide range of cases, including business and commercial disputes as well as civil rights matters. He also gained national recognition for his leadership and expertise, having handled high-profile litigation involving major retail giants. Justice Oing will now bring his wealth of experience as an arbitrator, mediator, and neutral evaluator to JAMS, where he will manage cases across multiple areas of law, including business, intellectual property, and employment law.
“AABANY congratulates Justice Oing on joining JAMS,” AABANY President Joseph Eng, Jr. stated. “His career exemplifies the highest standards of legal excellence and leadership. Justice Oing has continually embodied a commitment to justice and a profound grasp of legal issues. We are confident that his valuable contributions to JAMS will increase demand for ADR services and will further benefit the legal community as a whole. We anticipate Justice Oing will bring to JAMS his commitment to serving the community and his passion for achieving meaningful resolutions. As Justice Oing begins this next chapter, AABANY is proud to recognize him as a renowned leader in the law and the judiciary, and as a valued member of AABANY, the legal community, and the broader community.”
