Union Minister General VK Singh took to Twitter on Tuesday morning to reassure Indians in war-torn Ukraine and neighboring nations that they will be evacuated safely. He also urged them to stay where they are and not move until told.
“Stay where you are, don’t move until you are told, and don’t panic. Your country will safely evacuate you. Jai Hind,” he wrote, with the hashtags ‘GeneralInPoland’ and ‘Operation Ganga.’
On Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a meeting on the Ukraine crisis during which it was decided that four ministers would travel to different nations neighboring Ukraine to coordinate the evacuation operations of Indians under ‘Operation Ganga’.
While VK Singh was sent to Poland, Hardeep Puri will be in Hungary. Jyotiraditya Scindia will take care of evacuation efforts from Romania and Moldova and Kiren Rijiju will be in Slovakia to manage the evacuation of Indians who have come from Ukraine through land borders.
In his tweet, Minister of State for Road Transport & Highways and Civil Aviation Gen VK Singh assured families of those stranded in Ukraine that their “kids will be back” soon.
“My message to all parents, guardians, and family members, your kids will be back with you soon,” he wrote.
