Embarking on a New Year Filled with Promise

By Arnold W. Drucker

Greetings and Happy New Year, dear friends and neighbors!

We are living in one of the most challenging times in our nation’s history, but I am confident our perseverance and spirit will see us through this and onward to brighter days ahead.

As we navigate obstacles, LD 16 remains available to assist in securing COVID-19 testing, vaccinations, and booster shots. Please follow me on social media for regular updates about important testing and vaccination resources available for you and your loved ones.

To protect your hard-earned money, my office is partnering with Nassau County’s Assessment Review Commission to host virtual tax grievance workshops on Friday, Jan. 21, and on Thursday, Feb. 10. Sign up on my website for one of these informative sessions and learn how to challenge a tax assessment. Details will be shared through social media and the LD 16 email list.

I am hopeful of passing legislation to repair or replace dangerous and defective sidewalks on County roads. Department of Public Works has repaved many County roads- it’s perfectly fitting to have our sidewalks redone as well.

I look forward to launching Legislature’s special task force to combat antisemitism. We hope to engage community leaders and residents through public hearings to identify the root causes and develop effective legislation to eradicate antisemitism at its incipient stages in our County.

I will continue to advocate amending the County’s Human Rights Law to better protect Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders from targeted acts of hatred and bigotry.

My office is planning blood drives to ensure the gift of life is available to all. We need to protect ourselves from COVID-19. Please continue to wear a mask, wash your hands frequently, and get vaccinated and boosted.

When Nassau County residents work together, we thrive together – and I hope that message will carry us all through the year. Please stay safe!
