AAMIR KHAN
He played the role of Daljit 'DJ' Singh in the film who, along with his friends, challenged corrupt political leaders in the country. He also starred as Mangal Pandey, a leading revolutionary in the Indian Mutiny of 1857, in 'Mangal Pandey: The Rising'. In 'Lagaan', he plays a farmer, who, along with the people of his small village in colonial India, stake their future on a game of cricket against British rulers.

SHAH RUKH KHAN
In 'Swades - We the People' Khan played Mohan Bhargava, a successful scientist with NASA in the US, whose realization of India's socio-economic problems inspired him to return to his roots forever. In 'Chak De', he portrayed the role of a hockey coach who gains redemption for the wrong done to him, via guiding and training the national women’s hockey team.

AJAY DEVGN
In 'The Legend of Bhagat Singh', Devgn played the titular character. The biographical period drama film chronicled the freedom fighter’s life as a young witness of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre in 1919 to his execution in 1931. Set against the 1971 Indo-Pak War, 'Bhuj: The Pride Of India' featured the actor as IAF Squadron Leader Vijay Karnik who led a group of local women to reconstruct a landing strip, which was destroyed by Pakistan. The film, 'Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior' earned Devgn his third National Award for Best Actor.

VICKY KAUSHAL
In 'Sardar Udham', Kaushal played the role of freedom fighter Udham Singh, who assassinated Michael O'Dwyer in London to avenge the 1919 Jallianwala Bagh massacre in Amritsar. In 2023, he featured as Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw, the seventh Chief of the Army Staff, Indian Army, in 'Sam Bahadur'.

In 'Manikarnika – Queen of Jhansi', she played the role of Rani Lakshmi Bai of Jhansi, the first woman in history to fight against the British in the cry for Independence.
