Festivities in India continues as the wedding season commence from November 15

After the record sales during the festive season of Diwali 2021, the Indian economy continues to witness strong demand as a long wedding season starts from November 15. From November to July there are 5-6 days of auspicious days for marriages each month till July 2022 except in March, the month of May being the peak with 13 auspicious days to solemnize Hindu marriages.

According to the Hindu traditions, marriages are not permitted to take place during prohibited solar months when Sun is in the Cancer, Leo, Virgo, and Libra signs. Marriages are also not generally performed when Venus and Jupiter are combust.

As the Sun moves to Scorpio during the middle of November and all inauspicious periods get over, the wedding season is all set to commence from November 15.

National President of All India Jewellers and Goldsmith Federation Pankaj Arora says, “700 tonnes of gold has been imported in India in 2021 so far, which is much higher than the last year. The consumer demand for gold has increased by 50 percent year-on-year basis in the July-September quarter.”

Arora insists that fall in Covid-19 cases and record vaccinations are the reason for the rebound in consumer sentiments. “Jewellers across the country had made elaborate preparation to cater the demand of wedding season after a bumper Diwali,” Arora said.
