FIA hosts 36th Dance Pe Chance to celebrate R-day

Over 500 participants and 21 dance performances set a new high for FIA as it crossed the milestone of having touched the lives of over 18000 children via this cultural performances competition spanning 3 decades.

Trenton, NJ: The Federation of Indian Associations (FIA-tristate), one of the oldest and the largest nonprofit umbrella organization of the Indian diaspora, celebrated India’s 71st Republic Day in a grand way with its annual show “Dance Pe Chance” (DPC) that promotes the second generation Indian Americans while promoting the culture and heritage of India.

The competitive show of cultural dance performances on Jan 25 at the Patriots War Memorial Theatre in Trenton, New Jersey, drew youths from 13 dance schools of New York and New Jersey and attracted a large crowd.  They performed in four categories: Minor, Junior, Senior and Adult. Aum Dance Creations, Arya Dance Academy, Aatma Performing Arts, B2Z Dance School, Dancing Shiva, Nruthu Aaloka Dance Vision, Nirmiti School of Dance, Nritya Creations, Shake it up dance school, Dance4Ever, Taal Institute of Performing Arts, Dansation, and Taraang with Mitali were among the schools that participated.

Celebrities in the mix included actor & Kathak dancer Prachee Shah Paandya, actor and athlete Prachi Tehlan and the Super 30 fame math maestro Anand Kumar, who was the Chief Guest graced the event with their presence.

In his welcome address, DPC Chair Saurin Parikh welcomed the spectators and applauded the children’s parents and choreographers. DPC has touched the lives of a total of over 18000 children who have participated in this competition over 3 decades.

The community event also honored the dignitaries in attendance, judges, guests and included the oath ceremony of FIA’s incoming executive committee led by President Anil Bansal.

Participants were judged by an array of talented personalities including Anindita Nanda, Paromita Chakravarty, Pranaya Akula, and Swati Vaishnav. The event was sponsored by Radio Mirchi, Air India, Republic TV, TV Asia, Parikh Worldwide Media & The South Asian Times. The winners were presented cash awards, mementos and certificates.
