New Jersey: Friends of MP NYNJ – A diaspora group of people with origins in Madhya Pradesh (MP) residing in New York, New Jersey hosted their 6th annual picnic on Sept 24th in Rosedale Park, Pennington here. The day-long picnic was activity packed and a memorable one for the 300 attendees from 100 families. The weather was sunny and excellent for an outdoor gathering.

This year, MP’s authentic food delicacy Baafla was introduced in the lunch. Also, the morning breakfast (Sarafa) had Indore’s traditional Pohe – Jalebi – Garadu, all made on site.

The attendees included toddlers to senior citizens and there were activities planned for each age group from 11 am till 6 pm. This included Antakshari, Cheetah Challenge Cricket, Little Master Chef, Tambola with an MP Twist and all of these were very popular.

The underlying warmth for the entire day was meeting friends from MP, old and new. People found long-lost connections from the same college or same native town. To help strengthen the bonds, all the attendees were divided into six groups named after famous tourist towns of MP – Mandu, Khajuraho, Maheshwar, Kanha, Bandhavgarh and Pachmari.

As a bond of connection, MP Tourism/ MP Government facilitated many banners about tourism in MP. This was displayed all over the picnic area. Also, each of the attendee families was given a handicraft carry bag and items from MP, courtesy of MP Tourism. All attendees appreciated this gesture of MP Tourism warmly.
