Full dress rehearsal held for I-day celebrations in India

New Delhi: With preparations for the 74th Independence Day in full swing, a complete dress rehearsal was held in various parts of the country on Thursday, including the iconic Red Fort in the national capital.

This year, the Independence Day event is being celebrated differently owing to the coronavirus pandemic.

The Ministry of Health Affairs (MHA) also released the guidelines to be followed during the occasion following the precautionary measures against the pandemic.

In its advisory, the MHA has said that this year’s programmes should be organized in a way that large congregations of people are avoided and technology is used in the best possible manner for celebrating the occasion.

Amid the downpour in the national capital, tri-Service bands and Delhi Police contingent marched during the full dress rehearsals for the 74th Independence Day celebrations at Red Fort in New Delhi.

Jammu and Kashmir Women Police contingent held a march-past during the full-dress rehearsal at Mini Stadium parade ground in Jammu.

The STF contingent in Madhya Pradesh marched during the full dress rehearsals for the Independence Day celebrations at Moti Lal Nehru Stadium in Bhopal.

As per the MHA order, the Independence Day celebrations in Delhi would consist of the main event which includes the presentation of a Guard of Honor by the Armed Forces and the Delhi Police to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Red Fort.
