Gujarat’s Sardar Patel University alumni host 21st annual reunion

New Jersey: Sardar Patel University (SPU) Alumni 21st Annual Reunion was held on Saturday, September 9, 2023, at Royal Albert’s Palace in New Jersey which was attended by more than 500 SPU alumni and invited guests.       

Dr. Jagdish Trivedi with his humorous presentation and witty wisdom made it an evening full of belly laughs, while Bhikhubhai Patel, Chairman of Charutar Vidya Mandal (CVM) and CVM University was the chief guest of this event. Bharatbhai Patel, Chairman of the Asian American Hotel Owners Association (AAHOA) and Dr. Jagdishbhai Trivedi graced the occasion as guests of honor.  

The evening started with a cultural tradition of Deep Pragatya followed by garlanding of Bharat’s beloved leader Pujya Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel who was the force behind the vision for the University in the late 1940’s.  After an introductory and welcome speech by the Association’s President Alay Patel, Bhikhubhai Patel was recognized for his leadership at CVM in taking the quality of education to a higher level in the 21st Century.   

Bhikhubhai Patel presented a detailed report on the CVM’s initiatives for newly added academic programs.  Bharatbhai Patel, Chairman of AAHOA and a second-generation hotelier with Indian roots gave an inspirational appeal to everyone to stay engaged with the local community and politics to ensure our voices are heard.  

Tributes were paid to Late Shree Ashabhai Babarbhai Patel and his son Late Shree Manibhai. They were recognized for their charitable contributions to healthcare and academic institutions in Anand and Vallabh Vidyanagar areas. Ashabhai’s youngest son Shree Chandrakantbhai was honored for his achievements in academics and business. Additional honorees were Dr. Gordhanbhai Patel, Dr.Raj Patel, Dr Vithal Dhaduk, Albert Jasani, Dr. Dineshbhai & Mrs. Shobhanaben Patel, the owners of Albert Hall.  

Jatin Desai, Executive Vice-President of the SPU Alumni made an appeal to donate to the Alumni Association’s scholarship programs for the students.
