Hindu Heritage Month proclaimed by City of Stafford

During early afternoon on September 27, 2021, the atmosphere at the Stafford City Hall was amiable and warmhearted as the City of Stafford, Texas joined several states and cities across the United States of America to proclaim the month of October as ‘Hindu Heritage Month.’ 

Thanks to the efforts of Dr. Kusum Vyas who initiated the request to Hon Mayor Cecil Willis, for the month of October 2021 to be proclaimed as Hindu Heritage Month in the City of Stafford. 

Dr.Vyas was invited to receive the official proclamation during a specially organized event with Mayor Willis and his staff at Stafford City Hall. Dr. Vyas expressed her profound thanks to Mayor Willis, his staff and to Councilman Ken Mathew for his efforts in the entire process while describing him as an exemplary “duty before self” official who was “always there to help when needed.” 

Stafford Mayor’s declaration noted, “Hindu-Americans have made a significant contribution across all fields, including science, education, medicine, law, politics, business, culture, sports and more.”
It added “Hindu Heritage, culture, traditions and values have enriched our great city and State.”  

Flanked by a team of fellow volunteers, Dr. Divyendu Singh, Anoop Rathod & Mr. Veneel, Youth Representative Anjali Agrawal and Hindu leader Vijay Pallod, Dr. Vyas accepted the Proclamation on behalf of the Hindu community and emphasized the “invaluable contribution of Hindus who are known to be model, law-abiding citizens and grateful for the many opportunities made available to them not only in the United States but all other countries where they have settled.”
