Nation gears up for Maha Kumbh 2025

The Maha Kumbh 2025 will see crores of devotees taking a holy dip at the Sangam. A bevy of star power and fine artists from the B-Town are set to turn the event into a dazzling spectacle

Prayagraj/Lucknow: In a bid to make Maha Kumbh 2025 an unforgettable experience, the Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh has planned a series of grand cultural events blending spirituality, tradition, and entertainment. 

Scores of Bollywood stars and artistes are set to captivate the devotees with their performances, featuring stories from the Ramayana, Mahabharata, and the divine significance of the Kumbh.

According to organisers, actress and MP Hema Malini will present a mesmerising depiction of ‘Ganga Avtaran’, Ashutosh Rana will perform ‘Humare Ram', while Puneet Issar will transport the audience to ancient India with his powerful performance on the epic Mahabharat.

These cultural events will take place at the Ganga Pandal, organised by the Uttar Pradesh Culture Department in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture.

On February 8, Bhojpuri and Bollywood actor and Gorakhpur MP Ravi Kishan will perform ‘Shiv Tandava', while Puneet Issar will bring the epic ‘Mahabharat’ to life on February 21. No Mahakumbh would be complete without sharing the rich history and significance of Kumbh. Special arrangements have been made for cultural evenings dedicated to this theme.

The cultural festivities will commence on January 22 with a Kathak dance drama by Kathak Kendra, Sangeet Natak Academy, centered on the theme of Kumbh.

As part of the cultural programmes proposed to begin on January 10, an exciting lineup of performances will captivate devotees throughout Mahakumbh 2025. On January 11, Odisha's Prince Group will dazzle audiences with their ‘Dashavatar’ dance presentation.

The schedule includes performances by Mathura's Madhava Band and Agra's Crazy Hoppers on January 16, followed by Grammy Award winner Ricky Kej on January 17, and Kolkata's Golden Girls on January 19.

Manipur's Bastar Band will perform on January 21, and Delhi's Shrinkhala Dance Academy will showcase their talent on January 27. The musical journey will continue in February with the Indian Ocean Band on February 7, Agni Band on February 17, and Mumbai's Maati Bani Band on February 19.

Sufi Band Thaikkudam Bridge will perform on February 20, and the Kabira Band from Mumbai will conclude the festivities with a mesmerising performance on February 22. The Maha Kumbh 2025 will feature a unique cultural experience as Ramlilas from India and other countries take center-stage at the Ganga Pandal.

On January 18 and February 14, Ramlilas incorporating folk dances from different countries will be presented through the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR).

Additionally, Shriram Bharti Kala Kendra will stage their renowned Ramlila performances on February 15 and 16, while Shalini Khare from Madhya Pradesh will depict the 'Ramayana' through Kathak on February 22.

The cultural festivities also include a Kavi Sammelan by renowned poets from across India on January 20 and a rare heritage folk instrument presentation by Rajesh Prasanna on January 21.

On January 24, audiences can enjoy choreographed shows by 'UP Folk Night’ and cultural performances representing various states.

On February 18, the legendary flutist Rakesh Chaurasia will mesmerise devotees with his soulful flute recital, adding a harmonious touch to the grand celebration. These performances promise to enhance the spiritual and cultural richness of Maha Kumbh 2025.

Devotees at the Maha Kumbh will be treated to mesmerising performances by some of Bollywood’s finest artists. Renowned singers and composers such as Shankar Mahadevan, Kailash Kher, Sonu Nigam, Vishal Bhardwaj, Richa Sharma, Jubin Nautiyal, and Shreya Ghoshal will perform during the grand event. 

These performances, taking place at the specially built Ganga Pandal in the fair area, will elevate the spiritual atmosphere of the Mahakumbh, making it not only a religious event but also a cultural spectacle for the attendees.

According to the proposed plan, performances by these stars will be held in the Ganga Pandal, located in the fair area, with an audience capacity of about 10,000 people. The performances will be scheduled from 4 PM to 8 PM.

As per the schedule, famous singer and music composer Shankar Mahadevan will perform on January 10 while renowned folk singer Malini Awasthi will enchant the audience with her performances on January 11. Singer Kailasa Kher, known for his devotional songs, will perform on January 18, and on January 19, Sonu Nigam may captivate the devotees with his magical voice.

Other artists performing include folk singer Maithili Thakur on January 20, Kavita Paudwal on January 31, Vishal Bhardwaj on February 1, Richa Sharma on February 2, Jubin Nautiyal on February 8, Rasika Shekhar on February 10, Hansraj Raghuwanshi on February 14, and Shreya Ghoshal on February 24.

These stars will bring a soulful blend of spirituality and devotion through their performances, enriching the cultural experience of Maha Kumbh. While Maha Kumbh officially begins on January 13, the devotional and cultural performances will start on January 10.

BAPS’ Karyakar Suvarna Mahotsav at Narendra Modi stadium

Ahmedabad: A grand celebration of BAPS volunteer services is set to be organised at Narendra Modi stadium, the world’s biggest cricket stadium on December 7, to mark the selfless service and devotion of more than 1 lakh volunteers.  

The occasion will begin with a heartfelt tribute to Pramukh Swami Maharaj on his birth anniversary, celebrating his pioneering efforts in fostering a global community of selfless volunteers. The event will be graced by BAPS spiritual leader Mahant Swami Maharaj and attended by Home Minister Amit Shah, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel.

The year-long Karyakar Suvarna Mahotsav celebrations began on January 28, 2024 and will conclude with the grand finale celebrations on December 7, 2024 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Volunteers from various parts of India and across the world, including the UK, Europe, the USA, Australia, and the Middle East, will come together to attend this historic event.

It is for the first time that the remarkable celebration will honor over 100,000 volunteers from India and abroad through captivating performances, narrations and throwback videos that will feature their extraordinary contributions and sacrifices for the welfare of countless individuals. The blessings of senior swamis and Mahant Swami Maharaj, and speeches by stage guests will enlighten and inspire all.
