Indo-American Cultural Foundation of Central Jersey – IACFNJ in collaboration with Rotary Club of Plainsboro, South & North Brunswick, Indus TV and Ohmkara held their fourth annual Spring Color and Cultural Festival on Sunday, May 21, 2023, from 1 to 4 p.m. at Woodlot Park, 124 New Road, in South Brunswick, NJ. IACFNJ and the local community organizations and members celebrated Spring Color and Cultural Festival to bring the community together to welcome spring, mark Indian color festival of Holi and celebrate cultural diversity as the month of May is “Asian Pacific Islanders Month”. The event was free and open to all local community residents which was attended by 250 people.
Various local dance groups including Nrityakala Dance Academy, Rhythm Dance School, Mudra Dance School and solo performances from talented teenagers Shivangi Mohapatra and Sonaira Singh performed superbly choreographed cultural dances from various regions of India in colorful costumes which were the highlights of the event. The authentic Indian food stall with delicious items from Perces Indian Grill in Monroe was enjoyed by the attendees.
The local vendors had their tables to display and sell clothes, jewelry and other costumes during the event. The live entertainment and traditional colorful Holi songs were sung by the Ohmkara singers and DJ Darshan of Desi Experiment provided wonderful music.
IACFNJ’s dedicated and enthusiastic Executive committee, trustees, committee members and volunteers under the leadership of President Dr. Tushar Patel, Chairman Raojibhai Patel, Vice-Presidents Mahesh Patel and Mac Shah, Secretary Surabhi Agarwal, Treasurer Rajesh Patel, Joint Secretary Kirti Mehta and Joint Treasurer Dimple Patel, Youth Committee Chair Niyati Patel, Event Coordinator Naina Goel, trustees, committee members and volunteers worked hard to make this event a huge success.
The upcoming events of IACFNJ will be summer picnic at Mercer County Park, West Picnic area on Sunday, July 2, 2023, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and India Independence Day celebration on Sunday, August 13, 2023, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Shree Swaminarayan Temple, old YMCA, 329 Culver Road in Monmouth Junction.
