New York: Indian American Esha NagiReddi and her team, the Converse University Valkyries, were selected to compete in the 2022 NCATA (National Collegiate Acrobatics and Tumbling Association) National Championships held in Eugene, Oregon from April 28-30.
Esha attends Converse University, located in Spartanburg, South Carolina on both academic and athletic scholarships. Only the top 8 teams in the entire country are selected to compete at The National Championships.
Esha and her team finished the season ranked 7th nationally and picked up a National Championship in the 6 element acro event.
In honor of AAPI Heritage Month, the Loudoun County, Virginia Board of Supervisors honored Esha for being the first Indian-American in the NCATA.
The proclamation was presented by Chairwoman Phyllis Randall, who spoke highly of Esha. Broad Run Supervisor Slyvia Glass also spoke about Esha and her commitment to her sport and her community.
Ashburn Supervisor Mike Turner and Dulles Supervisor Matt Leterneaou also spoke about Esha and her team’s success.
Esha was a gymnast for 15 years before she signed to do Acrobatics & Tumbling at the collegiate level. She trained at G-Force Gymnastics under Coach Scott McCrae, Megan Edwards, and Lori Barthlow for the majority of her gymnastics career.
Granddaughter of Reddappa Reddy and Siddulamma, directors of physical education in Pileru, A.P, India, athletics runs in her blood. Her mom put her in gymnastics at the age of 3 and she found her own love for her sport.
She hopes to bring Indian-Americans in collegiate sports to new heights and inspire more young Indian-American athletes to pursue their dreams on the big stage. (Source: telugubulletin.com)
