Indian-American actress Meera Simhan is set to star opposite Chris Sullivan and Reema Sampat in ABC’s new comedy pilot ‘The Son In Law’, from 20th Century Television.
The show is written and executive produced by Ajay Sahgal and executive produced by Jake Kasdan and Melvin Mar of Fresh Off the Boat, according to Deadline. The show will follow Jake (Chris Sullivan) who finds himself seeking the approval of his finance Asha’s (Reema Sampat) parents.
Simhan will play Khushi Mehta, Asha’s mother, who is described to be a self-involved philanthropist. Khushi openly disapproves of Jake and Asha’s relationship especially because Jake is significantly less wealthy than Asha and her family, Variety reports.
Simhan most recently recurred on ‘The Flash’ and guest-starred on CBS’ ‘Evil’ and Fox’s ‘The Resident’. Her other credits include recurring and guest-starring roles on series such as ‘The Magicians’, ‘Fresh Off the Boat’, ‘NCIS: Los Angeles’, How to Get Away With Murder’, ‘Major Crimes’ and ‘New Girl’.
Simhan was born in London, England, and raised in India and Southern California. Her family immigrated to the United States in the early 1970s and settled in San Diego.
