Indian-American singer Priya Darshini nominated for The Grammys

Singer, actor, entrepreneur and an athlete Priya Darshini has been nominated for the 63rd edition of the annual Grammy Awards.  Her debut album Periphery nominated in the ‘Best New Age Album’ category is a jukebox of everything fun, soulful and healing. The 37-year-old musician finds her home in these songs that reflect her south-Indian roots living in New York with a dash of life in Mumbai. The mix of cultures got the essence of both American pop and Carnatic music in her album. Her experience in music and sound is far-stretched having recorded for several award-winning Indian movie soundtracks, collaborated with renowned musicians from the industry such as Pearl Jam and sung for more than a hundred television and radio commercials.
Priya Darshini had submitted her debut album for the Grammy’s early this October. With the release on Nominees list on November 24th, the multi-talented artist shared the news on Instagram “A Live album, recorded entirely on One mic getting a nod from the Academy is quite surreal.”

The singer, songwriter, who is also the first Indian woman to complete the 100-mile Himalayan Ultra Marathon has involved herself in aiding cancer patients, encouraging girl-child education and other NGO activities as well.
