Indian community unites for Vaccinations

Hicksville, NY: Prominent Indian community leaders, organizations and activists have come together to bring awareness and provide help for vaccinations among the South Asian diaspora in the New York tristate area.

A round table was scheduled for December 17 evening on ‘Covid-19 Vaccine, and its prioritized distribution to the needy in the South Asian community’, in the face of some other communities pushing for their interests.

Confirmed speakers for the virtual meeting included Consul General of India in New York Randhir Jaiswal, NY State Senator Kevin Thomas, FIA’s Chairman Ankur Vaidya and President Anil Bansal, AIA President Harish Thakkar, Dr. Ajoy Sinha, Jyoti Bhatia Gupta, Gobind Munjal, Kamlesh Mehta, Dr. Urmilesh Arya, Nagendra Gupta, Vibhuti Jha, Vimal Goyal and many other prominent community leaders and supporters.

The initiative was taken by Rotary Club of Hicksville South under their ‘serve the local community’ project. President Nilima Madan successfully mobilized the community to get ready for lobbying for equal opportunity if not priority for the availability of the vaccine to Indian Americans.  Efforts will be made to unite the community and assist the needy people for their vaccination.

Rotary Club of Hicksville South is well known for their humanitarian projects since it was chartered in 2009.
