Indo American Lions Club holds its 1st Gala

Great Neck, NY: The Long Island Indo American Lions Club hosted its 1st Annual Gala on August 29th at Leonard’s Palazzo here.  It was a full house.

The Club President Indu Gajwani gave a summary of the club’s achievements and projects including food drive, clothes drive, eyesight testing and donation of eyeglasses and heath fair.  The club also made contributions to organizations like Cancer Care.

The event was graced by Lions Club dignitaries including District Governor – Paula Umreiko, PDG – Terri Oster, 1st Vice District Governor – Rupal Sehgal, PCC – Andy Umreiko, PDG – T.J. Anand, PDG – Anthony Paradiso, and PDG-NJ – Nancy Jakubezyk & Harish Mehta. 

Raja Singh represented New York State Senator Kevin Thomas Kevin at the event.

Gala Chairs were Gobind Bathija & Dr. Sunil Mehra. Anju Sharma was Event Chair and Poojaa Makhajani the Program Coordinator. Introducing Gajwani, Anju Sharma lauded her lifetime achievements, her dedication, service and leadership as club president.   

As per Lions Club protocol, Pledge of Allegiance was said by Pradeep Tandon, Lions Club’s prayer was offered by Rita Shah and Toast was given by Sanju Sharma followed by Toast to the Queen by Krishna Maddipatla.

A prayer dance was presented by Khushi Oza seeking God’s blessing for the wellness of all.

Indu Gajwani thanked her team. The members of the executive committee and chairs were honored for their dedication, hard work and support. A special shout out given to Shyam Gajwani – backbone of the whole program.

The benefactors whose contribution helped in hosting the gala and carry out various projects throughout the year were recognized and honored by distinguish guests. They included Dr. Purna Chandra Atluri, Nand Punjwani, Bobby Patel, Kanak Golia, Barathi Reddy, Thulasi Reddy, Naveen Shah, Dr. Jay Sarkar, Meena & Anil Shah, Gobind Bathija, Vijay Patel, Anupam Yadav and Dr. Kalpesh Amin.
