ISKCON Brooklyn celebrates week-long Gita Jayanti festival

New York: Some fifty centuries ago Lord Krishna spoke Bhagavad Gita to His friend and a devotee Arjuna, ever since every year that particular event is celebrated as Gita Jayanti. Hare Krishna temple in Brooklyn New York scheduled week-long festivities which ended on December 14th. Besides the routine rituals the temple offered its large congregation to participate in a fire sacrifice, discourses on one of the greatest philosophical dialogues known to mankind and an opportunity to distribute widely published scripture Bhagavad Gita as it is translated by Shrila Prabhupada, founder of Hare Krishna movement. Children of all ages joined to recite verses in Sanskrit. The congregation also sponsored and supported the Gita Maha Yagna in Kurukshetra, India.
