Khalistan menace in Punjab: Top developments

— Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said “Punjab’s peace and harmony, and country’s progress is our priority. We will not spare any force working against the country. People of this state want peace and progress”. He said no incident of violence has been reported after the crackdown against Khalistani Amritpal Singh.

— The Punjab and Haryana High Court slammed state police and asked them to submit a status report on their operation against Khalistani leader Amritpal Singh. The court said that the escape of the Khalistani leader was an intelligence failure of the state’s police.

— The ruling BJP has appealed to the Sikh bodies to “isolate” Khalistani supporters after Indian missions in US and UK were attacked by the radicals over the crackdown against Amritpal Singh.

— The suspension of mobile internet and SMS services will continue in parts of Punjab, including Tarn Taran, Ferozepur, Moga, Sangrur and Amritsar’s Ajnala, till Thursday noon. Neighboring Haryana also remains on high alert.
