Pre-register today for breast cancer screening
Huntington, NY: Councilwoman Theresa Mari is excited to announce that the Stony Brook Medicine Mobile Mammography Van will be providing state-of-the-art 3D digital mammograms at the upcoming ‘Pink in the Park Breast Cancer Prevention and Education Fair’ on Sunday, September 29th, 2024, from 10 AM to 2 PM at Heckscher Park, located at 2 Prime Ave, Huntington, NY 11743.
This event offers a critical opportunity for women to receive breast cancer screenings in a convenient and accessible setting. The custom-designed 40-foot van is equipped with a comfortable waiting area, private dressing room, and a fully equipped exam room. All screenings are performed by New York State-registered radiologic technologists with specialized training in mammography. The mammogram images are read by board-certified radiologists at Stony Brook Medicine, ensuring the highest level of care and accuracy.
Due to high demand and limited availability, pre-registration is necessary. To secure your appointment, please call (631) 638-4135 as soon as possible.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Must be a female aged 40 or older.
- No mammograms in the past year.
- Not pregnant or breastfeeding.
- No breast implants or breast issues, such as a lump or nipple discharge.
- No prior diagnosis of breast cancer.
If you do not have health insurance, you may still be eligible for screening through the Cancer Services Program of New York.
This initiative is supported by Health Research, Inc. and the New York State Department of Health. Councilwoman Theresa Mari encourages all eligible women to take advantage of this essential health service.
"Early detection is key to saving lives. I urge all eligible women in our community to pre-register for this vital screening service and join us at Heckscher Park for a day dedicated to health, wellness, and support," said Councilwoman Mari.
