Louis Vuitton to sell luxury face shields embedded with gold studs

By The SATimes News Service

Face masks, shields and other protective equipment have become a part of our daily lifestyle ever since the novel coronavirus outbreak. And now, it looks like it will become a fashion statement.

Luxury brand Louis Vuitton is all set to launch its first face shield, and it comes with the brand’s monogram and gold studs. Yes, you read that right.

The brand’s luxury face shields will be available for sale from October 30 and will be sold for $ 961 according to Vanity Fair.

The move is an attempt to make personal protective equipment a fashion statement, and a luxurious one at that. The shield is a part of Louis Vuitton’s 2021 Cruise collection and includes an elastic monogrammed strap attached to the shield along with gold studs engraved with the LV logo.

In fact, it can also be worn as a hat by flipping the shield upwards. The shield comes with a transition lens technology that can turn from clear to dark, depending on the sunlight.

In the beginning of the pandemic, the brand had launched the production of hundreds of thousands of non-surgical protective masks, along with transforming its RTW (Ready-To-Wear) atelier in Paris to create hospital gowns.

Other brands that are also releasing their own version of luxurious personal protective equipment like face masks are Fendi, Palm Angels, Marine Serre and Cristian Siriano.
