Mediaman Harvinder Riar passes away

New York: Harvinder Singh Riar, a well-known Punjabi journalist based in the tristate area passed away on March 27. Not even 50, he is said to have died of  cardiac arrest even while he was putting finishing touch to his weekly Punjabi paper ‘Writer’.

Riar came to be known as an ace TV anchor with the popular program “Ajj da Mudda” on JUS Punjabi channel for almost 15 years. He later started his own TV channel “Baaz” over a year ago.

Riar started his journalism career through the Punjabi Tribune, Chandigarh. While working with the Tribune, he hosted many cultural programs across Punjab. He also presented the “Punjabi Lashkara” program with Doordarshan Jalandhar and worked with the channel for over 9 years. He also hosted programs such as ’Lokrang’, ‘Kavishar’ etc. He also worked with Raavi TV for 3 years.
