Michigan Youth Cricket Association partners with Detroit City for cricket introduction event

Detroit: Michigan Youth Cricket, a non-profit organization with the motto to coach, play & promote cricket among youths of age 6 to 19 recently held an introductory session for Detroit youngsters. The enthusiasm was palpable as people showed up despite the city indoor facility experiencing power outage minutes before the session due to heavy wind.

Detroit city people were impressed with the way MIYCA engaged the kids and how they allowed it to enter their mind & body. “They asked us if we could do the same in Detroit West region and introduce this new sport and get kids to play & enter into other sports. Also, they asked us if we could do this every week going forward,” said Vinodh Deenadayalan on behalf of MIYCA.

“It was such a pleasure to watch them embrace & enjoy something they had never seen or experienced before. It was surprising to hear that some of them never even played baseball. We were able to go to their level and make it enticing and not bore them with too much technicalities.”

Jatin Patel, renowned multi-sport coach & Cricket Hall of Famer was also part of this promotional event at Detroit City Laski Recreation Center.
