World admits poverty down in India: PM Modi

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led NDA Government completed eight years on Monday. PM Modi had taken the oath of office for the second time on May 30, 2019.

A day after, Modi on Tuesday asserted that India’s global standing has improved over the past eight years since the NDA Government came to power, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Tuesday that international organizations have begun to accept that “poverty is reducing in India”. He was addressing a “Garib Kalyan Sammelan” at Shimla’s Ridge Maidan.

Modi also underlined security and integrity as the key markers that differentiate his tenure from the previous regimes and said that the country’s borders are more secure than before and the “talk” now is about ease of doing business instead of corruption.

On national security, PM Modi pointed to the cross-border strike on terrorist launch pads in 2016 and the Balakot air mission. “Before 2014, there was concern regarding the security of the country. Today, there is pride in the surgical strike, the air strike. Our borders are more secure than before,” he said.

While listing the “changes” against the Congress in a 40-minute speech, PM Modi also touched upon The Muslim Women (Protection of Rights on Marriage) Act, 2019, and said that “earlier, there was fear of triple talaq but now there is the courage to fight for the one’s rights.”

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has planned a slew of programs from May 30 to June 15 to mark the completion of eight years of the Narendra Modi government at the Centre. According to party leaders, the focus of the events will be “service, good governance and welfare of the poor.” As part of this campaign, a 75-hour public outreach program will be organized from the booth to the national level in which all Union ministers, ministers in the BJP-led state governments, and elected representatives will take part and visit villages.
