PM Modi to meet Pope on Oct 30 says Kerala Bishops’ Council

New Delhi – Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to have an informal meeting with Pope Francis during his Europe visit beginning on October 29. PM Modi will be traveling to Rome and Glasgow from October 29 to November 2 to attend the G-20 Summit and the World Leaders’ Summit of COP-26.

Kerala Catholic Bishops’ Council (KCBC) on October 27 issued a statement saying that PM Modi will have an informal meeting with Pope Francis. Statement by Cardinal George Alenchery the President of KCBC read, “The meeting between His Holiness Pope Francis and Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will take place on Saturday, October 30.”

The Vatican has also confirmed the visit scheduled for 8.30 am which is expected to include a 30 minute tête-à-tête between the two dignitaries.

Cardinal Alenchery termed the scheduled meeting between Pope Francis and PM Modi as, ‘historic’. “It will add more energy and warmth to the relations between our country and the Vatican and the Catholic Church,” Cardinal Alenchery said in his statement.
