Ranbir Kapoor’s film crashes, theatres remain empty

Ranbir Kapoor’s ‘Shamshera’ weekend collection has not been great, to say the least. The film has failed to pull the audience to the theatres, and just like many Bollywood action films of 2022, looks like ‘Shamshera’ too will tank at the box office. The film also stars Vaani Kapoor and Sanjay Dutt.

‘Shamshera’ embarked on its journey with an opening of Rs 10.25 crore on Day 1. While the film was expected to take off during the weekend, it looks like the collection remained low despite good word of mouth. During the first weekend, ‘Shamshera’ earned a mere Rs 31 crore, and looks like the lifetime collection of the film will be near Rs 65-75 crore.

According to a report by Bollywood Hungama, the show saw a huge 70 percent drop in bookings on Monday. The report states that the film earned a mere Rs 4 crore on the first weekday.

The storyline of ‘Shamshera’ follows Ranbir Kapoor’s character being pitted against Sanjay Dutt. The film is set in the 1800 fictitious city of Kaza, where a warrior tribe is imprisoned, enslaved, and tortured by a ruthless authoritarian general Shuddh Singh.
